Remaining
If the remaining value on your card is positive (e.g. HK$0.1 or above) but is insufficient to cover
the intended deduction amount, the Octopus card can still be used provided the resulting negative
value does not exceed HK$35. The Octopus card cannot be used for payment if the remaining value is zero or negative prior to the intended deduction. The HK$50 refundable deposit covers the card cost of HK$30 and the possibility of negative value.The maximum stored value on an Octopus card is HK$1,000.
Personalised octopus card
The Octopus Card can be personalized by adding your photo onto it. Application forms are available from MTR Customer Service Centres (Quarry Bay, Sai Wan Ho,Chai Wan, Lai Chi Kok, Kwai
Hing, Tai Wo Hau, Diamond Hill, Choi Hung, Lam Tin, Tung Chung), KCR East Rail Customer Service Centres (Hung Hom, Shatin, Tai Po Market, Sheung Shui, Lo Wu), KCR Light Rail Customer Services Centres (Siu Hong, Sam Sing, Yuen Long and Tin Yiu stops), or New World First Ferry Octopus Service Centres (Central Pier 6 or 7). The application fee of HK$100 includes a deposit of HK$50, a non-refundable handling charge of HK$20 and a stored value of HK$30.
Note : Applications for student cards shall be handled by MTR and KCR Light Rail only.
